Advice from moms

What did you pack in your hospital bag when you had your sweet little?

All the lists online are MASSIVE and I cannot imagine I need all of that.

Please help me out....

So far I have...

breast pads
socks

So without your help that is what I am going to the hospital with.

  1. I know I'm in the same situation as you, but I'm just planning on taking an outfit to bring the little guy home in, an outfit for me to wear home, maybe some toiletries for me, and some snacks. Maybe a blanket or two? Really, I dunno what more I'm gonna need.

  2. Take the outfit you want to bring girl baby home in, also you can take a couple of her own onesies to change her while at the hospital, but they pretty much keep her swaddled. Make sure you take your toothbrush and toothpaste, and some travel size shower things, because they will let you take a shower and believe me, you will want to for sure :) Couple of blankets for Ed, when he spends the night on the nice couch bed since the hospital blankets are not the greatest....other than that, nothing else is necessary :)

  3. Take a couple pairs of socks; mine always got bloody. Take a brush. I know I'm weird, but for my last two births, I took some makeup. After such traumatic experiences my eyes got so puffy and I just felt more human greeting visitors, and even medical people, with a little bit of blush and mascara. Don't forget your Lansinoh or other lanolin product if you're nursing. You're going to want that stuff on before you nurse for the first time. Trust me, cracked nipples are not fun, nor are the infections that follow cracked nipples.

  4. I second everything everyone else has said but recommend bringing makeup and toiletries for sure! You're going to feel like you've been hit by a train but you don't want to look like it. You'll feel much better if you take a shower and get ready a bit. Don't forget your camera either! Don't even pack diapers and wipes. And take home as many pads, mesh underwear, squirt bottles, binkies, and diapers as you can. You are paying for them anyway!

  6. Camera.
Take home outfit for baby. (You can wear the clothes you came into the hospital with...as long as they are cute.)
    Toothbrush and paste.
Anything else you think of at the hospital you can get someone to bring for you.

And Edwin may want to bring his own pillow, but he can get that when he goes home to shower, etc.

  8. Don't forget chapstick! I also liked having one of my own pillows from home. I agree with everyone else. You don't really need a whole lot. Good luck with everything. I'm excited for you!
